Street Chopper
Magazine and LA Speed Shop to build and race
Sailor Jerry
“Rum Runner” land speed bike
Under the moniker of Rum Runner Racing, Street Chopper
Magazine Editor Jeff G. Holt and Master Bike Builder Chris Richardson of LA
Speed Shop will be constructing and racing a land speed bike sponsored by
Sailor Jerry Rum.
Events
to include El Mirage STCA events and Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats in
2012
“We
are looking to build a bike that can run with the best of them in classes that
will fit in with both the LA Speed Shop fans and our magazine’s core readers.”
Stated Jeff G. Holt, Editor-In-Chief of Street Chopper Magazine.
“This
year, we are not looking to dominate any land speed records, but more to dip our
feet in the racing realm, do the best we can in the A-PF 1650/4 and APS-PF 1650/4 classes, and show the
readers both in print and online how to put a race bike together and campaign
it, but anything can happen.” Commented Chris Richardson of LA Speed Shop fame.
Online
blogs on both streetchopperweb.com and laspeedshop.com will feature the
complete tip to tail race bike build with all parts featured, and an up-to-the-minute
diary of how the program is progressing, sponsor spotlights, and component
reviews.
The
total bike build will be covered in Street Chopper magazine as monthly
installment a well as a feature on the completed bike and story about the trils
and tribulations of racing the Rum Runner.
Since
any sort of racing isn’t a cheap endeavor, Rum Runner Racing is actively
looking for more sponsorship whether it be of cash or product support.
Current
Sponsors include; Sailor Jerry Rum, Chassis Design Company, Lowbrow Customs, Biltwell
Inc, Alchemy Tattoo, Wheel Works, Lincoln Electric, and Powerhouse Generators.
